Film & Video
Everything has a story; the space you are in, the exhibition you visit and the videos you watch. Placement of objects, lighting, use of space and of course the people you meet influence the stories you want to tell. Depending on how these elements work together your story becomes more or less intriguing, informative, or beautiful. Designing these presentations is what I have been doing for a while now, both for organizations and for inspiring individuals.
Whether it is a video, an interior or an exhibition, I design unique spaces and create timeless presentations. Feel free to contact me to create together special events, exhibitions, stories and spaces as beautiful and timeless as possible. Some for now, some maybe for later.

DesignBlend
Since the beginning of 2000, I have been designing and realizing spatial, digital and video projects for organizations such as World Press Photo, KPN, BAM, Nescafé, PLAN and Einhaus. And although I have moved more towards film and video, I am still regularly approached for exhibition, design and event projects.
In spatial design, the space must match the story for which the space is intended. Whether it concerns an exhibition, showroom, interior or event, the message must sometimes be subtle, sometimes in your face to stimulate or provide food for thought. With this in mind, I design spatial exhibitions, systems and art that are timeless in their simplicity, but can also be exuberant to capture the spirit of the times.

Spatial
With spatial design you try to optimise the interaction between people and space and make it as pleasant as possible. It is a search for a beautiful combination of cultural and artistic knowledge, social aspects, economic interests and technical insights. In modern spaces, the interaction between objects and graphic design is increasingly important. Nowadays, the use of photography, video, captions and digital art is therefore an essential part of furnishing spaces.
With this in mind, I was able to design creative concepts for exhibitions, living spaces, showrooms, objects and stands for temporary and/or timeless use.

Exhibitions
When you talk about spatial experience, the first thing that comes to mind are exhibitions, in small spaces with lots of details as well as the large overview exhibitions in museums. I always look for combinations and contrasts where historical and modern presentation means are combined to empower a story, not to showcase the latest techniques. This time the cliché is true; not every story can be told in the same way.
With my background inn industrial design, I combine spatial insight and graphic design skills. With this I have been able to design permanent, temporary and travelling exhibitions. And because my own art and design projects have been exhibited in various countries, I have come to understand both the creative and the organizational side very well.

Write with a “v”, pronounce with a “b”; Shiva. Born in Nepal, adopted, raised near Amsterdam and still in touch with his roots; combining is an essential part of Shiva Rimal‘s life. Shiva tries to understand what makes things beautiful. It is a journey in which boundaries between different forms of design are less important. By mastering industrial and spatial 3D design, graphic design, photo- and videography, material, color, light, craftsmanship, creativity and the love of words are combined into a variety of projects.
Projects & Exhibitions
Shiva Rimal’s art and design projects have been showcased in cities across five continents, including; Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Moscow, Lisbon, Luanda, Tokyo, Sydney and at the United Nations headquarters in New York
Art & Design
Up to graduation Shiva combined his study Industrial Product Design at the University of The Hague with his own label for interior, exhibition and cross-media design. Clients include international organizations such as World Press Photo, KPN, BAM, Urbain Trade, Nescafe, Meijer, Plan, Einhaus and many more.
The invaluable experience gained from working for these organizations allowed Shiva Rimal to experiment with different styles and materials. In 2005 Shiva developed his own signature style. The Iron Capture & Materialistic Line, a combination of raw and shiny objects, 3D items and craftsmanship. In 2007, Shiva Rimal introduced his own vision of contemporary design, called DesignBlend. With this, he shows modern design does not have to rely on separate segments such as interior, graphic, film and industrial, but by combing all elements of design the results are simply more creative, suit the purpose better and last longer.

Art & Highlights
Shiva Rimal’s signature artworks, the Iron Capture and Materialistic Line, combine hand-engraved drawings on rusted industrial steel, contemporary photography, car/spray paint, raw (used) materials and minimalist design; sometimes with a touch of poetry, occasionally with some gold. The objects reference his life, the techniques are a tribute to his native land Nepal.
The Iron Capture and Materialistic Line have been showcased in Paris and Moscow and exhibited in Canberra Australia and at various locations in the Netherlands, including Der AA Kerk in Groningen, the old part of Rotterdam, the beautiful synagogue of Weesp, the inner city of Utrecht and several locations in and around Amsterdam.
